Georja Skinner, is the Director of the Film and Digital Media Division of DBEDT and the former Film and Digital Media Director for Maui County and principal at Communications
Pacific. Georja will give an overview of film and digital media in Hawaii and discuss film production in Hawaii, including the filming of "Lost".
Ruth Bolan, is the Executive Director of Pacific Islanders in Communications (PIC), she has worked in theatre and film and digital media production for over 20 years, including directing and film production for private production companies and was the Administrative Director for the American National Theater of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Ruth will speak about PIC, a nonprofit which promotes and helps to sustain local Pacific Islander film and media producers. PIC has partial funding from the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), and together with other National Minority Consortia members produces film content for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and PBS. PIC is currently working on a production deal with National Geographic and the film makers they support. The National Minority Consortia is composed of Asian American, Latino, Black and other minority nonprofits that receive funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to produce content for PBS.
